what’s the point of going to school for business, if there’s thousands of books and free online courses dedicated to it? what’s the point of paying a fortune for college in general when 70% of the time you’re undeclared until junior year? as you can see, this mentality can be applied to any practice.
i feel like we put such an inflated importance on post-education. what you major in is not always cognitive to what you get a job in right out of college. the whole “point” of college, in case we forget, is basically extended study. i’m not here to learn, but to expand on what i already know. the point is to completely immerse myself in my art without interruption and to grow as a scholar through that.
i’m going to art school for photography because i’ve already decided that it’s what i want to do; and i use “do” with an infinite tense.
